The shower deck is made from 5/4" Ipe, a sustainably harvested Brazilian hardwood that has rich color and grain, is extremely strong, and highly resistant to rot and weathering. Without preservatives, Ipe decking has a 25+ year lifespan; this can easily be extended through periodic application of a wood/deck preservative.

The wood panels are made from Dark Red Meranti, a hardwood from Malaysia that is often confused with Mahogany. Our Meranti ranges in color from deep russet to light orange, giving a warm glow to the enclosure. It resists weathering and checking (splitting), is 100% certified by the Malaysian Timber Council to meet sustainability standards (see below).

Our frames are crafted from ¾" x 1 ½" stainless steel tubing (304), welded locally and polished by hand in our shop to a 400 grit finish, giving the steel a soft reflective luster.

All of the hardware, including screws, hinges, handles, and clasps, as well as the optional bath hooks and soap tray are stainless steel (304 or 316).

Hansgrohe/Axor Thermostatic Showerpipes

We offer two different shower fixtures by Hansgrohe/Axor: the Hansgrohe Croma Green Showerpipe and the Axor Citterio Thermostatic Showerpipe.  Both fixtures blend superb German engineering with sleek and elegant minimalist design.  Additionally, both fixtures offer:

• Built-in thermostatic control valve, allowing the user to set a constant water temperature, while providing scald-protection.  This feature alone sets the Oborain shower apart from any other outdoor shower we've seen.
• Showerheads offering a deeply satisfying, soaking spray.
• Handshower pieces offering three different spray modes.
• Highly durable chrome finish.
